City Held Go Red Columbia Community Press Event and Photo Op

Let’s have a heart to heart, about heart disease.

The public was invited to participate in the City of Columbia’s Go Red for Women community photo op to help and support the women affected by heart disease, the number 1 killer of women.

This year’s event was held on National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 6, 2026 in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The Go Red for Women movement encourages awareness of this issue and action to help save lives. Both men and women were encouraged to wear red the day of the event.

Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, City Manager Teresa Wilson, Mayor Pro Tem Tina Herbert, CPD Chief Skip Holbrook, representatives from the American Heart Association, heart disease survivors and advocates for awareness gave messages about the importance of this campaign. Connor Shaw, founder of HRTHUDL, shared his powerful survival story and advocated for life-saving heart health initiatives.

Thank you to everyone that was involved in making this event a success!
